Abstract


Objectives: This study was conducted to understand the demand of patients for periodic scaling and dental hygienists and the need of oral health education.

Methods: The study surveyed patients who visited dental clinics in B city for health insurance covered scaling, and their responses were statistically analyzed using SPSS ver. 23.0.

Results: "Dental hygienist in charge of scaling"(p<0.05), "Satisfaction from previous scaling" (p<0.05), and 'Education after scaling' (p<0.05) were found to be factors that influence the subjects¡¯ periodic scaling.

Conclusions: It is necessary to minimize the discomfort of patients during scaling and to further raise their satisfaction through education after scaling. In addition, awareness change and support need to take place in clinical setting along with improvement of dental scaling policy.
